Common questions
What is Bali's 6-month passport rule?
Indonesia requires your passport to be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive. If it isn't, the airline can refuse to let you board and immigration can refuse you entry.
Is it 6 months from arrival or from departure?
From the day you land in Indonesia, not the day you leave home or fly back. That's why this calculator asks for your arrival date.
What if my passport is a few days short?
The rule has no margin: a passport that is valid for less than 6 months after you land doesn't meet it, even by one day. Renew it before you travel or arrive earlier.
Can I travel to Bali with my ID card?
No. Indonesia only accepts passports, also for EU citizens. Check it's in good condition too: torn or damaged passports can be refused at the border.
When should I renew my passport?
Check it as soon as you choose your dates: renewing can take weeks depending on your country. If it's close, renew it before applying for the visa, which is linked to your passport number.
