For anyone who prefers an Amed without traffic: modern Balinese decor, cottages, sea-view rooms and two- or three-bedroom villas with a shared pool, great if you're travelling with three or four others. There's a beach area of its own, a restaurant, happy hour at the bar and bikes to hire. Reading on the terrace comes naturally. To get into the busier part of Amed you'll want a scooter. A good match for groups of friends and families sharing a villa, and for couples staying a few nights.
