Seminyak Beach is at its best late in the day. In the morning it's calm and you can walk the sand with hardly anyone around; from about five it fills up with loungers, beach bars and everyone facing west. It's a long stretch, so if the crowds put you off, just walk north and it thins out. Currents can be strong and red flags do go up, so swim with care. Bring flip-flops, sunscreen and a bit of cash for a beer. It suits solo travellers who want an easy plan where striking up a conversation comes naturally.
