Going to Canggu? See who'll be around
Plan your trip and we'll show you travellers on your dates. Only if you both want.
A royal temple ringed by ponds and gardens: a calm morning away from the Canggu coast.
When you've had enough of beaches and cafés, this is the half-day escape. The royal temple of Mengwi sits among ponds and neat gardens, with several courtyards you can wander through at your own pace. Go early, while it's still cool and the tour groups haven't arrived. Cover your shoulders and knees, and borrow a sarong at the entrance if you need one. Walking around and taking photos easily fills an hour. It's a short scooter ride from Canggu and fits nicely on the way to the highlands. A good pick for anyone curious about Balinese culture, and easy to enjoy solo.
