Going to Sidemen? See who'll be around

Plan your trip and we'll show you travellers on your dates. Only if you both want.

Tiered fountains and ponds among rice paddies, best first thing before the tour groups arrive.

This one is for anyone who wants an unhurried wander past fountains, stone carvings and ponds with Mount Agung in the distance. Go early: by mid-morning the tour buses roll in and the empty-frame photos are gone. Allow an hour and a half, and if you've got energy, walk out into the paddies around it, which are quiet and easy to follow on foot. Bring swimwear if you fancy a dip in the pools, and shoes with grip, as the stone edges get slippery. It's well inland, so it slots nicely into an east Bali loop by car or scooter. Good for photographers, couples and solo travellers with half a day to spare.
