Going to Nusa Penida? See who'll be around

Plan your trip and we'll show you travellers on your dates. Only if you both want.

Nusa Penida's dinosaur-shaped cliff: get there early or you'll be queuing for the photo.

This is the picture that probably brought you to the island, which is why every viewpoint has a queue by mid-morning. Go early and you'll have it nearly to yourself, with far better light. The view from the top is worth it on its own; the path down to the beach is very steep, with rocky sections and ropes, and the climb back in the heat is the hard part. Wear shoes with grip, bring water and don't rush it: flip-flops are a bad idea. Allow about an hour and a half to look, photograph and, if you're up for it, head down for a while. Best for landscape photographers and anyone happy to sweat for a view; with small kids, stick to the viewpoints.
