If the Batu Bolong scene feels like too much, Pererenan is the alternative. There's surf, dark sand and fewer people, and the surroundings still have a rice field or two between the cafés and villas. It's a good spot to rent a scooter, park up and wander without hurrying. Go late in the afternoon for an easy sunset. Bring water and sunscreen, as there's little shade. Currents can be strong, so ask before you swim. It suits anyone who wants a more relaxed vibe, and it's a comfortable choice if you're travelling solo and would rather skip the crowds.
